Is Trump Hitler?
Trump-Hitler comparisons are odious because Hitler has no comparison. They're anti-Semitic because they distract from the real anti-Semites who reside in the Pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party.
Over eight years ago, in the far-left Huffington Post, I cautioned Democrats and Progressives that comparing Trump to Hitler is dangerous, false, and insensitive. Based on the post's popularity, it felt like I was making a difference.
But judging from unhinged fusillades directed at me of late from friends, relatives, and online trolls, it seems that lefties and Democrats are still trucking in the DNC-cultivated, media-amplified, Trump-deranged "Trump-is-Hitler” shibboleth. It’s a perverse, ironic testament to their mastery of Orwellian disinformation, doublespeak, and groupthink that the mendacious slander endures.
I realize now that I can't combat such a folded lie with reason. It’s emotional. It’s ahistorical. It's pathological. We’d need some new-fangled Ludovico’s Technique or a halt to the Big Tech blockade of anti-regime narratives to get the Trump-deranged brain ready even to receive fact-based reality.
In another futile Crotty plug for truth and reason, here are the facts that mainstream media and the TDS-afflicted refuse to acknowledge.
Nazis were Socialists. It’s in the party’s name: National Socialist German Workers' Party. Republicans and Trump are anti-Socialist. As federalists, they seek to devolve decision-making to those most proximate to the problem. That’s a far cry from Democratic, let alone Nazi, top-down governing edicts.
Hitler consolidated power in the German capital of Berlin, undermining countervailing power centers that might threaten his “Reich.” Though Trump slightly continued the executive order trend that went wild under Barrack Obama's cult-of-personality reign, he and the GOP believe that states and localities, not centralized big government, should make most decisions. Even on abortion, sensible Republicans have come to accept the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs that this is a state and local matter.
Republicans and Trump believe in a true diversity of opinion, not government-mandated speech codes and censorship. But for nine years, Democrats have waged war on free speech in collusion with Big Tech, even creating a laughably named “Disinformation Governance Board” to bully compliance. The Twitter Files exposed their autarchic and repressive ways.
Yet these stalwarts of state control are undaunted. As we speak, Biden’s disgraced former Disinformation Czarina, Nina Jankowicz––who trucked in both the Trump/Russia collusion hoax and election-changing Hunter laptop cover-up––is back at it under a new umbrella, the preposterously anodyne American Sunshine Project. Jankowicz has aligned with the same partisan forces working overtime to disappear truth: The Stanford Internet Observatory, the Center for Election Security, and the U.S. State Department. It’s pretty clear to most Americans who the actual despotic censors are.
Republicans and Trump believe in due process and the rule of law, not using the law to target political opponents or keep them off ballots, which has become an essential strategy in the Democratic authoritarian playbook. The only comparable Night of Broken Glass that we’ve seen recently in America has come from the Democrat-backed Left. In an eerie echo of Kristallnacht, during the 2020 Black Lives Matter Summer of Insurrection, stores across America put “BLM” on their doorfronts to keep their businesses from being torched by rioters.
Trump does not cultivate paramilitary youth groups to advance his agenda. Yet, here in America, the Democratic Party is actively developing its violent terroristic wing to do its bidding when nonviolent stratagems fail. You saw it during the BLM riots. You saw it with the AntiFa occupations in Portland and Seattle. You saw on display in the recent pro-Hamas violence on college campuses. You will see it again this summer at the Democratic convention in Chicago.
During the 2016 campaign, the politicization of justice became official Democratic policy. Yet, even after the egregious Steel Dossier, Trump/Russia collusion hoax, and FISA court abuse designed to take him out, Trump, upon his election, declined to weaponize the Department of Justice (DOJ) against those who weaponized it against him. He pointedly refused to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her sundry crimes, which now include lying about her covert funding and creation of the fake and damaging Steele Dossier, even though all evidence now indicates Trump should have done more to deter future Democratic lawfare.
Like all authoritarians throughout history, today’s Democrats embrace the Stalinist adage, "Find me the man, and I will find you the crime." Soros-funded prosecutors Letitia James and Alvin Bragg campaigned precisely on this Stalinist "Get Trump" strategy before Trump was accused of, let alone indicted on, anything. This is the very definition of authoritarian justice.
In foreign affairs, Nazis––like NeoCons and Democrats––are expansionist by nature. Trump is anti-interventionist, anti-NeoCon, supporting low-footprint containment of America’s mortal enemies. Like me, he called out the militarist tendencies of his NeoConservative opponents in both parties before it was fashionable.
Trump's America First POV is not xenophobic, though the language around the mislabeled “Muslim ban” was troubling. Trump later cleaned that up. Trump and Republicans seek a safe, secure, and functional immigration system, not the violent, open, cartel-controlled border found under Democrats. This common sense wisdom was previously embraced by Democrats, including JFK and Bill Clinton. It is hardly Hitler-like.
Trump led the prison reform effort to release from custody those mistakenly placed in prison--primarily African Americans--due to Senator Joe Biden's flawed crime bill. That’s hardly Nazi-style racism.
Trump is pro-capitalist, though slightly protectionist. Like National Socialist Hitler, the Socialist wing of today's Democratic Party is fundamentally anti-capitalist. They routinely deploy coded anti-Semitism to demonize Wall Street financiers and the investing class.
Fortunately, demographic facts are contradicting the emotion-driven, media-amplified, DNC-orchestrated white supremacist lie. In polling, Trump now has 50% of the Hispanic vote and is projected to win over 20% of the black vote and significant numbers of the Asian vote. Trump has Jewish relatives, Jewish grandchildren, many Jewish supporters, and a slew of Jewish persons serving in his first administration. He is a staunch supporter of Israel, engineering the historic Abraham Accords that brought peace to Israel and between Israel and several of its Arab neighbors. The Iran-backed Hamas terrorist attack of October 7 sought to undo that historic win for peace. By all evidence, the Trump-is-Hitler lie is getting crushed by reality on the ground.
Yet the lie persists. It is odious because Hitler and the Holocaust have no comparison. It is anti-Semitic because it distracts from the real anti-Semites, who reside in the Pro-Hamas, Jewish-student-blocking––see college campuses–wing of the Democratic Party. It has the dangerous net effect of diminishing awareness of the Holocaust and its relevance today.
It must be conceded that Trump’s lies about 2020 ballot fraud inspired the weirdly under-policed January 6 protests and largely lookie-loo interruption of a congressional proceeding. His public posture is hyperbolic, cartoonish, bloviating, ironic, and sometimes ad hominem. It’s infectious and rousing to his MAGA base. His brash, can-do businessman shtick gives the “Trump-is-Hitler” lie some superficial juice, as Trump’s words and antics are selectively magnified by dishonest Democrats to distract from their authoritarian depravity.
However, a combative and bombastic performative style hardly indicates a preference for autocratic rule. The Democratic Party and the Left have long been characterized by bombastic rhetoricians, from William Jennings Bryan to Huey Long, Democrat-turned-Socialist Eugene Debs to Socialist-turned-Democrat-turned-Independent Bernie Sanders, to today’s Squad.
What matters are authoritarian actions. In this sphere, today’s Democrats have no American peer. As just one of the myriad Democratic dirty tricks, Anthony Blinken got 50 intelligence spooks to lie about Hunter Biden’s laptop to help Joe Biden win the 2020 election. Blinken was rewarded with the plum Secretary of State post, in part, for that outrageous act of election interference. 20% of Biden voters said they would not have voted for Biden had they known the laptop was real. Yet neither Blinken nor the treasonous intel operatives have been charged with anything, let alone election interference, even though their meddling was far more clear-cut than Trump's multi-motivational actions regarding Stormy Daniels.
It’s uncanny how often Democratic authoritarian projections apply to themselves. Democrat FDR interned Japanese-Americans. The Democrat South brought us slavery and Jim Crow. Many Democrats refused to acknowledge George W. Bush’s wins in 2000 and 2004. Over 40 Democrats in Congress refused to accept Trump’s victory in 2016. With Zuck Bucks, unilateral changes to state election practice without state legislative approval, Big Tech censorship, intel chief interference, and the nationwide left-wing insurrection in dozens of cities, Democrats were the more significant “threat to democracy” in the 2020 election.
So, it is particularly unnerving to see Democrats, especially Jewish Democrats, truck in the Trump-is-Hitler shibboleth. For years, I listened attentively to Northwestern University Jewish professors rightly claiming that nothing should be or could be compared to Hitler, Nazi Germany, let alone the Holocaust. Yet, recently, as just one of many examples, I found myself seated at a wedding party with a UCLA dermatologist who declaimed that “as a Jew,” she was terrified by Trump––as if the literal blocking of Jewish students onto her supposedly liberal campus never happened. The invalidating “as a Jew” trope––recently unpacked by the insightful wags at Commentary Magazine––is being deployed to silence speech that does not accord with the “Trump-is-Hitler” narrative. It’s wrong. It’s disgusting. And, as the Anti-Defamation League also requested in 2016, it must stop.
Essential Background Reading:
Huffington Post: Comparing Trump to Hitler is the worst kind of hate speech
1. On Presidents versus persons, Jack Smith is charging Trump with election interference. Our current President, Joe Biden, is also guilty of election interference. You long ago refused to deal with my point about Anthony Blinken orchestrating the intel chief letter that won Biden the 2020 election. I've reported at length on this in various CFRs. 2. While Vice President, Biden was engaged in influence-peddling, certainly as bad as election interference; 3. You keep dropping all the examples of Democrats calling for or applauding political violence. You don't deal with the granular points, so you lose those too; 4. There is no evidence that Trump supported or hoped for violence; 5. There is strong evidence that Trump asked in advance for National Guard help at the Capitol, but Bowser and Pelosi blocked him. He was trying to prevent violence, not support it. By their dereliction, Dems clearly wanted violence. 6 I give examples of specific Dems, but you keep dropping those; 7. You are getting ad hominem, lazy, hurtful, and personal in saying I support terrorism when I am just deconstructing the flaws in your arguments and the evil Trump-is-Hitler canard. 7. The Chuck Manson analogy is random and irrelevant. The major threat to the republic right now are Joe Biden and Democrats, with their lies, disinformation, censorship, lawfare, and election interference. Not Mansonesque, but pretty darn diabolical.
My question is whether anti-war Trump will have what it takes to do what is necessary to clamp down hard on Dem-encouraged political violence. Because it's coming. Soros is funding it. And should there be mass deportation of illegal immigrant felons, the violence will be everywhere. The Dems have shown their propensity to suspend due process and the rule of law to get their way. We as a nation need to be ready. See below: https://open.substack.com/pub/crotty/p/prepping-for-woke-apocalypse-the?r=lnico&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
