Will the 'Get Trump' Strategy work?
The Democrats have been playing chess, while the GOP has been playing checkers. Will the Democrats' cynical genius work one more time or are they finally overplaying their hand?
On Tuesday, April 4, the first President in the history of the United States was arraigned in a courtroom. It was not by accident. The brazen abuse of the New York criminal court system, including felonious grand jury leaks, to take out the leading Republican candidate for President was planned and orchestrated at the highest levels of the Biden Administration. Yet, as Democratic media, operatives, and donors barely contained their schadenfreude at finally getting their man, something darker became apparent. By their preposterous overreach on such an absurd, picayune, and outdated bookkeeping miscue just over nine months out from the first primary, it was obvious that Democrats had become desperate to pin something, anything on Donald Trump after seven years of relentless pursuit.
The question is: to what end? These are very strategic people, as their successful donations to "Ultra MAGA" candidates last cycle proved. But that was a midterm election with no Trump on the ballot. This time they could find themselves being too clever by half, elevating Trump’s victim status and fundraising appeal, scaring off less charismatic competitors, and giving moderate voters who turned their backs on Trump over January 6 a chance to give him another look.
Biden, Soros, and all the big DNC backers could have stopped the Get Trump legal Strategy, but they didn't. That's because they think an indicted and possibly convicted Trump is their best chance to obscure Democratic failures on crime, the border, the debt, the deficit, education, and the economy. And it accords with their Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals playbook. Rule #13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.”
They have good reason to feel confident. Their still-unpunished Steele Dossier lies, FISA court abuse and Russiagate hoax combined to weaken the Trump 2016 campaign and undermine his credibility and effectiveness once in office. Their bogus and unrelenting impeachments, investigations, and harassment of executive branch staff made governing nearly impossible. Their adroit use of Zuck Bucks, ballot harvesting, social media/Justice Department collusion to shut down the Hunter Biden laptop story, and legally murky changes to state election law sent a besieged and already conspiratorial Trump over the 2020 election conspiracy edge. Their ensuing 24/7 year-long infomercial on January 6 worked to halt the 2022 GOP midterm tsunami and distract the public from the more damaging, prolonged, and deadly Democrat-enabled, funded, and cheered BLM/Antifa Summer of Insurrection.
Time will tell if this latest Democratic gambit, the Get Trump Strategy flowing through four separate politicized trials, works just as swimmingly to stop Trump and a predicted 2024 Red Wave. Sadly for a country reeling from Democratic excess, unless House Republicans push back hard with smoking guns on Biden's corruption and incompetence, the GOP adopts a savvy game plan instead of whining about the DNC’s scorched earth one, and Trump keeps his counter-punches tight, measured, and lethal as he did last night in Mar-a-Lago, it likely will.
You can call it a liberal agenda but, by charging Trump it shifts from a political issue to a legal issue. I think it does peel away more voters. Law and order is a conservative value, but not a Trump value.
