Looting and Liberalism Revisited

In 1965, there was a power failure in New York City.  No rioting and looting ensued.  In 1977, after another power failure in New York, massive looting and rioting ensued.  The difference wrote Midge Decter in her still-relevant Commentary Magazine piece, "Looting and Liberal Racism," is that by 1977, by virtue of their government-assigned "victim status," certain groups were given carte blanche freedom to riot. "The very liberal and very racist idea," she wrote, was "that being black is a condition for special moral allowance."

This insane view now permeates federal, state, and local governments.  In the Summer of 2020, feckless liberal mayors in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle allowed BLM/Antifa rioters to burn down police precincts, attack federal buildings, injure and kill police officers, and riot, loot, and steal because the cause was “just.”

Our own CDC, which has recently been caught with its pants down regarding the possible lab-leak origins of COVID, said it was OK to riot in large tight crowds during COVID because the cause of the rioters trumped the need for public health. It was as if “social justice” offered some kind of viral immunity.

Recently, the Washington DC City Council voted to dramatically lower the penalties for carjacking, which is up over 100% in the Democrat-run city.  Why?  The penalties are "unjust” because they hurt criminals who might be people of color. 

This is where we are, friends.  This paternalistic and racist view needs to be rooted out, exposed, and defeated if we are ever to rescue our republic from the Woke Marxist hordes who aim to destroy it. This starts with the 2024 primary and general elections.
