Harris picks Walz: strategic genius or fatal misstep?

The Dumb & Dumber election is set as Harris picks phony moderate MN Gov Tim Walz, sparking debate over his enabling of the BLM riots and other lefty insanity, as she seeks to solidify key swing states

After a reasonably exhaustive and predictably racialist search for a “white male” running mate, the putative Democratic nominee for President, Kamala Harris, has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. It’s the kind of pick that the Woke Comintern adores.

Recall back in 2008 when the first Democratic racialist savior, Barack Obama, won the Democratic nomination over the bright, competent, if corrupt, Hillary Rodham Clinton. The clinical, detached Obama had several worthy running mate options––including Evan Bayh, Bill Richardson, and Tim Kaine––but he decided on the schmaltzy, long-serving Senatorial plagiarist Joseph Robinette Biden.

Biden was the person of color’s caricature of a harmless old white dude. Obama never took Joe seriously. He famously said, “Never underestimate Joe's ability to mess things up.” Obama had so little respect for Biden that he urged him not to run for President in 2016 and again in 2020. It's no surprise that Obama was essential to the coup that recently yanked Quid Pro Joe off the stage and coronated Chosen One #2, Kamala Devi Harris, in Joe’s stead.

However, in 2008, the hammy, endearing, if dysregulated, Joe Biden was essential to the strategic Obama triumph. Joe publicly vouched for the unknown, inexperienced biracial Chicago Machine upstart, who, by Obama’s biographical admission, smoked a lot of weed and snorted a fair amount of blow growing up in Hawaii. In a line from history that will go down as a signature Biden blooper, our current President said in 2007, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

If Trump had said that, mainstream media would have pilloried him. A Democrat saying it meant it was charming and harmless. Obama was Johnny Carson cool. Biden was his Ed McMahon doofus sidekick. It worked.

And heeeeeeere we are again. Though Tim Walz is ostensibly a steady Cornhusker from the Sand Hills of Nebraska––I’m usually impressed with folks from that formidable, unforgiving land––he lost his way when he hit Minnesota. His invalidating performance during the BLM riots tells you everything. Walz allowed it. He covered up his failure to prepare for it. He failed to stop the riots from metastasizing, unconscionably waiting THREE DAYS to send in the National Guard, long after police precincts had been looted and burned and whole neighborhoods set ablaze.

Walz took no responsibility for the mayhem on his watch nor the ensuing Summer of Insurrection his grotesque cowardice enabled. As with the disastrous Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, he let most of the BLM terrorists off the hook. Meanwhile, back in California, Kamala Harris bailed them out! So much for “saving democracy.” Walz was a horror show failure in his most critical job as Governor. He should have been impeached.

But those egregious Walz flops are catnip to Harris and her single cat person following. That Walz supports gun control, infanticide-on-demand, legalized pot, driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, sex-change surgery for minors, and letting “social justice” rioters walk free is right out of Harris’s San Francisco playbook.

As a former high school teacher, Walz will play well with teachers’ unions. They won’t mind that he was convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) back in 1995, that the $250,000,000 Feeding Our Future COVID relief fraud occurred on his watch, that crime in Minnesota has soared as student test scores declined, or that “Tampon Tim” endorsed a bill that provided women’s hygiene products in boys’ bathrooms in schools. So much for that lie that Walz is a prairie populist in touch with rural American values!

Those living through Biden’s open-border hell-–let alone the scourge of Mexican fentanyl––in swing states Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico may not be so impressed by this poorly vetted gut-instinct pick. Harris seems to think she can win without an overt outreach to Southwest Hispanic Christian voters, with whom she currently struggles. We will see.

That Harris did not pick the more sane and strategic Pennsylvania Governor, Josh Shapiro, tells you how frightened she is of her pro-Hamas Anti-Semitic base. In private, the Harris campaign says they were turned off by Shapiro’s surrogates, who were deemed too aggressive in lobbying for their man. It didn’t help that Shapiro backs fracking and school vouchers. But, the truth is, Harris didn’t want a Vice President who was more qualified than her and who might put Dearborn and Ann Arbor, Michigan, out of reach.

By contrast, Walz is an ideologically safe and workmanlike progressive whose love of hunting and experience as an assistant football coach might endear him to a tiny cohort of rural lefties. However, with the North Star State’s long history of left-wing rural movements, small-town Minnesota is politically far from small-town Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Even with millions being poured into rural areas by Zuck Bucks and Biden’s unconstitutional federal funds to “get out the” (Democratic) “vote” there, I’m not convinced that flyover country will be too enamored with an angry chicken-hawk lefty-Guardsman who calls a Marine J.D. Vance “weird.” Get your mind right, governor.

Like Harris, the cocky mercurial Walz is not remotely ready to be commander-in-chief. Supposedly, the two bonded over a visit to an abortion clinic. Killing babies, not terrorists, will be a priority for their Administration.

To uninformed punters, the Walz pick might seem like an unforced error, giving the flailing and incompetently run Trump campaign a new lease on life. But in truth, it’s pitch-perfect. A fellow “happy warrior,” Walz not only solidifies Minnesota for Harris––where Trump was making headwinds only two weeks ago––but his “doncha know” shtick might attract a few low-information moderates and independents in nearby Wisconsin not aware of his far-left bona fides or that he quit his twenty-four-year service in the National Guard right before his unit was sent to fight in Iraq.

With the black girl power vote carrying her in Georgia, Harris only has to win two of the remaining four swing states where Trump still leads in the RCP poll of polls: Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. That will not be easy, but, as Jim Carrey exclaimed in Dumb and Dumber, with the Walz pick, Team Harris is at least telling voters, “There’s a chance!”

Straight out of the patronizing Obama playbook, Tim Walz is a Biden-like tool in many ways, making him the ideal Harris running mate. As one Walz pal told me off the record, “Tim’s superpower is that he’s easy to underestimate, so that’s a gift for him.” Trump underestimated Sleepy Joe in 2020 and got thrashed. He will likely underestimate Walz and Harris in 2024. In a Dumb and Dumber election before a Dumb and Dumber electorate, stupid wins every time.
